Billie Elton McClennen, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017, at the age of 94. He was born on March 14, 1923 to Virgil M. and Clemma (Ward) McClennen in Comanche.
Family visitation is scheduled for Thursday, November 30, from 5:30-6:30 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1, at 11:00 A.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tracy Wilson officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. Janice Sharp. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Full Military Honors will be presented by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
Billie graduated from Empire High School. He joined the US Air Force on December 5, 1942. He served as an airplane mechanic gunner during World War II. He was presented with the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters, and ETO Ribbon with one bronze star. He was honorably discharged on September 22, 1945.
He married Juanita Williams on August 19, 1944. They had one daughter, Patricia Ann. Juanita preceded him in death on September 3, 2016.
He enjoyed quail/pheasant hunting, fishing, traveling, and watching football. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Billie was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Billie is survived by his daughter, Patti, of Houston, Texas; his granddaughter, Whitney and husband Colin Hutten; his great granddaughter, Avery Scarlet Hutten; his brother-in-law, Robert Davenport; his sisters-in-law, Lutie McClennen and Dean McClennen; and his nieces, Bobbi Williams, Debbie Whitt, Cathie Hladik, Cynthia Peters, and Beverly Caudill.
He was preceded in death by wife; his parents; his brothers, Dale McClennen, Glenn McClennen, and Gene McClennen; his son-in-law, William “Bill” Elkins; his sister-in-law, Joy Davenport; and his niece, Candy Bruner.
Serving as pallbearers will be Colin Hutten, Jerry Williams, Jason Crow, Chris Talley, Clarence Hladik, and Dan Peters. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Davenport.
Memorial contributions may be made in Billie’s name to the charity of your choice.
