How can we ever begin to say thanks for all this precious man has done for his family, friends, students and community. You, Mr. Whitman, were respectfully called the "Rock" before Duane Johnson was even born, and such a fitting name it was. Your tough hand rendered to many unruly students was the right deterrent for pursuading them to choose a better path than the one that lead them to your office.  Your gentle words were enough for other students, and somehow you just knew how to use both. Your love and care for your students and fellow teachers was always your driving force. Thank you!!
Cyril was one lucky town to have you and your family and the school will forever be blessed by your accomplishments there!!
Jesus bless your family!!
Happy Heaven Day, Mr. Whitman:)

I was one of the lucky ones to be a student at Cyril Public Schools during the years of Mr. Whitman.  I graduated with DeeAnn, my brother Rick graduated with Jack and my sister Shirley graduated with Chris.  My mother Doris Morris helped with getting the Johnson-O'Malley program started at Cyril in the 1970's and Mr. Whitman was a major player in helping get that program into the Cyril school system.  A few months ago while eating at the restaurant there in Cyril with my brother Rick and sister Letha, Mr. Whitman and DeeAnn were there and they stopped by our table and visited with us before leaving.  Cyril Public Schools and the town of Cyril has lost one of it's best.  DeeAnn, you and the rest of the family are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Mr. Whitman meant a lot to my husband, Donnie Farris.  He always had time to visit with Donnie and they enjoyed each other.  When we moved to Cyril we became neighbors and friends.  I have many good memories of times spent with the Whitman's.  I pray peace to you in your time of mourning.  May God be with you and Bless you.
