Bennie Catherine (nee Todd) Sanner left this earth and walked into the arms of her Savior on July 11, 2019. Her husband “Mooky” preceded her journey by four days. As on earth, they were never apart for long.
Bennie was born on May 29, 1937, in Ada, OK, to Leon Harrison and Francis Lenore (nee Brannon) Todd. She spent the first few years of her life in Ada before moving with her family to Lawton, OK. Soon after moving to Lawton, Bennie lost her father when she was just five years old to a sudden illness. Despite the loss, she was a strong, determined young woman with a quick wit. She excelled in school, attending Lawton Junior and Senior High Schools, before moving and graduating from Duncan High School with the Class of ‘55.
Bennie married the love of her life, John E. “Mooky” Sanner, on August 18, 1956. John and Bennie were blessed with four sons, Todd, Van, Darren and Scott. Bennie dedicated her life to her family as raising four boys was more than a full-time job. She loved her grandchildren dearly and had a special place in her heart for her granddaughter, Miranda. She was happiest when her sons and their families were gathered around the Thanksgiving or Christmas meal table. Bennie enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing and spent many hours finding comfort in her favorite book, the Bible.
Bennie was a member of Northside Church of Christ and Eastside Church of Christ in Duncan and North Richland Hills Church of Christ in Texas.
Bennie is survived by her four sons, Todd (Cindy) of Duncan, Van (Cona) of Casper, WY, Darren (Penny) of Weatherford, TX, and Scott (Jeff) of Duncan and her four grandchildren, Mykel (Emily), Tyler, Miranda and Kent; two brothers, Ed Todd of The Woodlands, TX and Franklin (Sandra) Spruiell of Fort Worth, TX; and two sisters, Cindy (Bill) Eden of Tyler, TX and Sue Lynn (Stan) Denoux of Pineville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband “Mooky” and a sister Jean (Joe) Riddle.
A memorial and celebration of life for Bennie and “Mooky” will be held at 10:00 AM, July 19, 2019, at Whitt Funeral Home Chapel 4748 N 81 Highway, Duncan. A family visitation will be held at Whitt Funeral Home on July 18, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
