Bill Gilson Obituary
William Edward Gilson (Bill or Skippy), 78, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. He was born to parents William and Olive Gilson on January 15, 1941 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Teresa “Terry”, of 54 years; four sons: Richard "Rick", Jeff, William "Billy", and Lance; grandchildren: Kyle, Kayla, Brandon, Jordan, Taylor, Kami, Zachary, Bailey, and Grayson; siblings: Carl and sister-in-law, Peggy; nephew, Michael and nieces Shannon and Rachael; grand-nephew, Mason and grand-niece, Gracie; cousins and dear friends as well as the many scouts that called Mr. G dad.
He is preceded in death by brother, Dick; mother, Olive; father, William; and mother-in-law, Muddie.
He will be missed by all who knew him, especially the scouts that were so dear to his heart and his co-workers who have visited and called him over the last months to express their goodbyes.
Bill enjoyed his woodworking skills that he passed on to his sons. He also loved the outdoors and camping with his family.
Bill worked for Halliburton for over 33 years and retired several years ago but kept in touch with many of his friends and co-workers.
Bill gracefully and peacefully accepted his cancer diagnosis 3 months ago. It was fast, but he was able to spend quality days with many family members and friends during that time.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Duncan Regional Hospital Hospice and especially Kevin and Stephanie who took personal care of my father in his last days.
Memorial for Bill's life will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Whitt Funeral Home, 4748 U.S. 81, Duncan, OK from 6 pm-8:00pm.
