Donald Everett Sanford was born on August 20, 1951, in Guymon, Oklahoma, to Earl Ernest and Carrie Margaret (Olsen) Sanford. Surrounded by his family, he passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018, at his home at the age of 67.
Family visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 29, at 10:00 A.M. at Freedom Biker Church with Bro. Billy Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Don graduated from Guymon High School in 1969. He then attended LSI Draughon’s School of Business in Oklahoma City studying computer programming. He was employed as a banker most of his life. He married Sheila Cathey on October 8, 1983, in Duncan. They had four children, Lacey, Derek, Daniel, and Ashley.
He loved his grandchildren dearly and attended their sports activities. He enjoyed camping and boating at Waurika and Texoma Lakes. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners.
Don is survived by his wife, Sheila; children, Lacey and husband Brandon Cypert, Derek Don and wife Destinie Sanford, Daniel Earl Sanford, and Angela Franklin; grandchildren, Mykah Jo Smith, Bryce Alan Smith, Dylann Paige Cypert, Kayla Morgan Sanford, Riley Jacob Sanford, Trinity Marie Sanford, and Krayson Franklin Carnes; brother, Ron and wife Rhonda Sanford; niece, Michelle Sanford; parents-in-law, J.D. & Goldie Cathey; brother-in-law, Johnny and wife Tletta Cathey; sister-in-law Donna Cathey and fiancé Jerry Gordon; and cousins, Sharon and husband Max Morgan and Dwaina and husband Wayne Mallett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Ashley Dawn Sanford; brother-in-law, Harold Cathey; and sister-in-law, Vickie Berryhill.
Memorial contributions can be made in Don’s name to the Freedom Biker Church building fund.
