Eddie Barker Obituary
Eddie Virgil Barker was born on December 18, 1938, in Marlow, to Roy Lee and Alta Mae Scott Barker. He passed away on Thursday, April 18, with his wife, Sherry, by his side.
Family visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, from 5:30-7:30 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.
Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, April 26, at 3:00 P.M. at the Duncan Cemetery with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating, under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. Military honors will be presented by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
Eddie attended schools in Marlow and graduated from Fort Stockton, Texas High School. He proudly served the United States in the Army for 3 years. He married Sherry Loleta Mitchell on February 14, 1959, in Velma. They made their home in Oklahoma City where Eddie worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 31 years serving as a supervisor. After his retirement, they moved to Duncan. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, OU football and golfing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Alta Mae Barker.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sherry; brother, Paul Morgan Barker of Marlow; sister, Jamie and husband Freddie Craig of Marlow; aunt, Betty and her husband Jack James of Duncan, sisters-in-law: Carol and husband Phil Leonard of Duncan, Harma Latham and Benny Kirkpatrick of Velma; nieces and nephews: Kenneth Clopton, Tonya and husband Joe Davis and daughter Lilly, Brian Craig, Brandon Barker and son Corbin, Krystal Newsome and children Daly, Blakley and Zadian, Kim and husband Russell Doughty and children Jay, Shea and Westyn, Karla Latham and daughter Laycee, Tana Latham and daughters Kaylee and Kylen, Cade and wife Juanis Latham and children Natalie and Cade; a host of great-great nieces and nephews; and his special great-great nephew, Kyzer Williams.
Memorial contributions can be made in Eddie's memory to the Stephens County Humane Society.
