Emerson Lowell Phillips Jr. was born September 27, 1944, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Emerson Lowell Phillips Sr. and Wilda Maxine Fields Phillips. He passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 29, 2019, at his home in Duncan. He was 74.
There are no services scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Emerson graduated from Duncan High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. He then went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers in the Maintenance Department. He received numerous awards during his tenure. He was an avid collector. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later, he loved watching the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emerson Lowell Phillips Sr. and Wilda Maxine Phillips; brother, James Eugene Phillips; and sister, Reba Forney.
Emerson is survived by his children, Jason and wife Susan Phillips of Duncan and Jennifer and husband Charles Bowers of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Dakota Phillips, Scarlett Phillips, Hunter Phillips, Trent and wife Julia Heilam, and Aidan White; and one great grandson, Jonah Heilam.
