George Clopton Obituary
George William Clopton was born February 22, 1928, in rural Comanche County to William Alexander and Eva Clopton. He passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, in Duncan.
A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, March 18, at 2:00PM at Letitia Cemetery near Lawton. The service will be officiated by Ryan Sims and assisted by Arden Smith. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
George graduated from Marlow Central High School in 1945 and attended Cameron University studying agriculture. He married Florence Kathern Sparkman on April 24, 1948, in Henrietta, Texas. George was employed as a machinist for Halliburton. He enjoyed playing golf and going to garage sales. He was a member of the Gideons men's group and volunteered at Christians Concerned. He also took care of cattle for Dr. Keller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; his parents; and two sisters, Bessie Bee Tullous and Janice Jean Clopton.
George is survived by his four children, Robert and wife Nancy Clopton of Edmond, Eva Dulworth and companion Steve Preslumsky of Norman, Lyndol and wife Lynn Clopton of Lake Charles, LA, and Cherri and husband Chris Lambert of Cache; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Betty Caldwell of Lawton.
