Harold Tomlinson Obituary

Harold Glen Tomlinson, of Marlow, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the age of 80. He was born on March 31, 1937, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Harvard Berlyn and Vera Maxine (Shipman) Tomlinson.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, at 10:00 A.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Aspire Chaplain Steve Gillispie, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Harold grew up on the family farm near Central High where he attended school. He graduated from Stillwater High School where he took a drafting class. In 1954 the family moved to California where he attended college and worked as a draftsman for General Dynamics.

In 1956, he joined the US Army at Fort Bellevue, VA where he studied missile mechanics. He was discharged in 1961 at Fort Bliss, TX. He returned to California where he married G. June Clark, of Pomona, in 1963. The couple transferred to Fort Worth with his job at General Dynamics. In 1968, he and June moved back to Marlow where he remained until his passing.

Harold earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cameron University. He worked for ASCOG and then became City Manager at Comanche. He designed and developed the town’s water treatment plant. Later, he worked for Fuller Engineering, Honeywell, and T&G Construction as a surveyor and engineer. He then worked for Macomb Pipeline Construction followed by Halliburton where he was assigned to the Pampa, TX field camp project.

In 1982, he formed an engineering and surveying company in Lawton that provided engineering plans and specifications to numerous municipalities. He received his PE in 1982 and his PLS license in 1997. In 1994 he earned an Associate's Degree in Civil Technology from OSU-OKC.

His favorite hobby was flying airplanes. He received his private pilot's license in 1977 and loved to fly his family and friends wherever they wanted to go.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvard and Vera Tomlinson; his twin brother, Harvard Lynn Tomlinson; and his sister, Shirley Longsinger.

Harold is survived by his wife, June; his children, Harold Glen Jr. and wife Nikki Tomlinson, Scott Emery Tomlinson, Christopher Lee and wife Fern Tomlinson, and Timothy Berlyn and wife Catessa Tomlinson; ten grandchildren, Krysten, Kelby, Kollin, Kameron, Grant, Jake, Ava, Sunnie, Keegan, and Cole; five great grandchildren, Autumn, Natalia, Juliana, Kimberlynn, and Huck; and his sister, Jean Kingsley.
