Hazel Charlene Sawyer Self, 81, of Cement, OK, passed away at her home on Saturday, December 22, 2018. She was born on August 30, 1937, at Rocky Ford, southeast of Cement, to Freddie Vance and Rosie Alice Sawyer.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 28, 2018, at 2:00P.M. at the Cement Assembly of God Church with Rev. Lance Perritt officiating. Burial will follow at the Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril, under the direction of Cyril Funeral Home.
Charlene attended Cyril schools. She married Robert Franklin Self on June 21, 1957, in Wichita Falls, Texas. In addition to her own children, she cared for over 100 foster children while living Arapaho where her husband worked in the oil field. Charlene and Robert moved back to the Cement area where she helped on the farm and ranch. She also worked at the carpet mill in Anadarko. She loved to read her Bible and watch TBN Christian TV Network. She was a member of the Cement Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her son, Franklin Eugene Self and wife Norma of Cement; grandchildren: Vance Self of Cement, Fred James Wilcox of Chickasha, Fredda Marie Kinuthia and husband James of Yukon, Trisha Dawn Proulx and husband Doug of Cement, and Matthew Christopher Wilcox and wife Jade of Ninnekah; numerous great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and numerous foster children.
Charlene is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Freda Marie Wilcox; adopted son, Norman Lee Self; grandson, Robert Austin Self; brother, Bobby Lee Sawyer; and sister Elsie Faye Breuer.
