Ivy Gdanski Obituary
Ivy Winnifred Gdanski, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Country Club Care at the age of 85. She was born on March 16, 1932, in Arden, Manitoba, Canada to Henry Charles and Gladys Winnifred (Mayzes) Stanners.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, February 2, at 2:00 P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Janice Sharp officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Ivy graduated from the Manitoba School of Nursing and worked as an LPN. She married Dr. Victor Leon Gdanski on January 8, 1955, in London, Ontario, Canada. They had seven children, Rick, Susan, Theresa, Chris, Greg, Kevin, and Simone. They later divorced in 1999.
She was active in the Crossing Community Church Choir in Oklahoma City and Walk to Emmaus, a Kairos Prison ministry. She enjoyed sewing, collecting gemstones and then making jewelry from those gemstones, and was involved in volunteer work.
Ivy is survived by her children, Rick and wife Pam Gdanski of Fulshear, Texas, Susan and husband Delmon Rumsey of Moore, Theresa and husband Ken Shaw of Duncan, Chris and wife Sherill Gdanski of Fairview, Greg and wife Nicia Gdanski of Lenexa, Kansas, Kevin Gdanski and husband Bill Gammons of Richardson, Texas, and Simone Hilton of Pflugerville, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Laurance and wife Barb Stanners and Ron and wife Cathy Stanners; and 1 sister, Josanne Jansen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Charles and Gladys Winnifred Stanners, and Dr. Victor Leon Gdanski.
