James Dewayne King was born on February 27, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, to Hubert Lee and Elizabeth (Patton) King. He passed away on June 27, 2019, with his family at his side in Oklahoma City at the age of 76.
There are no services scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
James was a 1963 Duncan High School graduate. He married Mary Estrada Woods in Duncan on January 19, 1963. Two children -- Connie and James -- were born to this union.
He started working offshore in the Gulf for Halliburton. In 1978 the family returned to Duncan and he worked as the Bulk Plant Foreman. He retired in 2003 after working for Halliburton for 40 years. James was an avid fisherman and made his own fishing flies. He was a talented craftsman, working with stained glass, leather and wood. He also made welding crafts and golf cart trailers.
James is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Connie King of Duncan and James W. King and wife Jennifer of Edmond; grandchildren, Jimmy, Katie, Emily and Gracey King; and sister, Linda Mahavier of Niceville, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Lee and Elizabeth King.
