Jimmy Arvillo Nelson was born June 18, 1937, to Elzie Ray and Ollie Mae (Scott) Nelson in Marshall, Arkansas. He passed away on June 12, 2019, at his home in Comanche, Oklahoma, at the age of 81.
A private service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements have entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Jimmy was married to Carol Alynee (Lawson) Nelson on December 22, 1970, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He worked at International Union of Operating Engineers in Oklahoma and also worked for Air Patrol flying airplanes to put out fires in California in his younger years. He loved to play golf and two of his favorite golfers were Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. He enjoyed raising horses and riding them when he was younger. He loved animals and would often bring home stray animals he’d found. He had a giver’s heart and would help anyone that needed assistance.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Rob and Jean Nelson, Brett and Mary Nelson, David and Nikola Nelson, Kevin and Dedee Nelson, all of California; daughters, Tracy Dupree and husband, and Jennifer and DeAngelo Hughley of OK; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sisters, Joyce Phillips, Billie Stewart, and Judy Kasdancuk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie Ray and Ollie Mae Nelson; brothers, Doc, J.R., Scotty, and Bob Nelson; and sisters, Maxine and Avis Nelson.
