Nita Pfeifer Obituary

Nita Pfeifer, 81, of Duncan, died Friday, August 9, 2019. She was born March 27, 1938, in Marlow, Oklahoma, to Oral B. and Aggie Copeland.

Nita was a devoted wife and loving mother whose family is deeply saddened by her passing. She was like a mother bear when it came to protecting her family. Losing her has left a large void in all of our lives.

Nita married James B. Pfeifer, of Hays, Kansas, on November 24, 1954, in Las Vegas. They had three children - Ruth Bollig, Daniel Pfeifer, and Sonja McCormick. They made their home in Duncan in 1959, where they owned and operated Duncan Pawn and Gun Shop, and later opened Duncan Jewelry and Diamond Jim's in Lawton in 1978. After retiring in 2008, Nita devoted herself to her family, spending much of her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters: Ruth Bollig and husband Tony of Hays, Kansas, Sonja McCormick and husband Mitchell of Duncan; daughter-in-law, Judi Pfeifer of Duncan; grandchildren: Misty Turner and husband Bill of Bray, Jeffrey Jordan and Maegan McCormick, both of Duncan; great grandchildren: Devin Ray Renfro and wife Hanna of Velma, Sydney Germain and husband Alex of Oceanside, CA, Skylar Jordan and Seth Jordan, both of Duncan, Blade Pfeifer of Bray; great great grandchild, Addison Renfro of Velma; brother, Etzell Copeland and wife Zelda of Long Grove; sister, Genava Wilson of Lawton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oral and Aggie Copeland; husband, James (Diamond Jim) Pfeifer; son, Daniel E. Pfeifer; grandson, Danny Lynn Pfeifer; and four sisters, Dorthy Nichols, LaVelle Berthelot, LaVern Boggan, and Martha Brock.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, August 23, at 2:00 P.M. at Eastside Church of Christ with minister Ron Stough and Terry Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Duncan Cemetery. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
