Norris Spencer

Norris Spencer was born July 18, 1926, in Woodford, Oklahoma, to Henry and Jane Spencer. He passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at the age of 92.

A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, December 27, at 2:00P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Todd Davison officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Norris graduated from Springer High School and then attended Okmulgee-OSU Tech where he received an associate degree in mechanics. He married Jeanne Freeman in 1950 in Ardmore. To this union two children were born, Ron and Jana.

Norris loved Jesus. He was so very thankful for God’s grace and mercy. He is now happy beyond our imaginations with Jesus and his family and friends who have gone on before him. He had a good life growing up on a farm in the Springer area when money was scarce and before everything was mechanized. He was blessed with good, hard-working parents who took him and his brother, Marion, to church. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II and during the army of occupation in Germany. He was proud of his country and was a good husband and father. He retired from Mobil Oil Company after 35 years and always said that anything worth doing was worth doing right.

He is survived by his children, Ron Spencer and wife Ann, of Duncan, and Jana Spencer, of Marlow; and grandchildren, Dustin Spencer and wife Kaitlyn, of Crowley, Texas, and Casey Spencer, of Edmond.

Norris was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; parents, Henry and Jane Spencer; and brother, Marion Spencer.

The family wishes to thank his caregivers over the years at Chisholm Trail Assisted Living, Debbie Whitfield, and his cherished friend and caregiver during the last 4 years, Vicki Lovett.
