Patrick Walter O'Leary was born on May 24, 1943, to Arthur James O'Leary and Berna Mildean Jones O'Leary in Bakersfield, California. He passed away on February 27, 2019, in Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City.
A graveside memorial service is scheduled for Friday, March 1, 2019, at 10:00 at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crews Funeral Home.
Pat spent many years driving trucks all over the country. When he wasn't behind the wheel, he was doing what he enjoyed -- making a business of O'Leary's Welding. Later, he kept busy remodeling houses. After retiring, Pat was also busy helping to care for 3 of his granddaughters, Erica, Brianne, and Kitty. He took them fishing, to school sports, and whatever else they could talk him into doing.
Pat is survived by 3 sons, James and wife Kumi of Fontaina, California, Brian and wife Sheila of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Michael of Bakersfield. He had 3 step children, Michelle Madson and Evelyn Dobbs of Bakersfield, California, and Robert Madson of Cement. He altogether had 14 grandchildren - Hayley, Harrison, Bret, Naomi, and Seraphina O'Leary, Eva, Brandon, Kelly, Jennifer, Mark, Zachary, Erica, Brianne, and Kitty; 1 great grandson, Ian, who really misses his "Popeye"; and 2 nieces, Diane and Debbie.
His sons, Brian and Jimmy, said they cherished the recent times they had gotten to visit him.
We are all going to miss him. The last days he was here were very hard, but we know he is out of pain and watching over us now. Rest in peace.
