Susan Gregston was born March 14, 1952, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Earl P. and Bobbie (Collingsworth) McElroy. Without warning, she peacefully woke up in the arms of Jesus on Monday morning, December 9, 2019.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, December 12, from 5:30-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, December 14, at 1:30 P.M. at First Baptist Church-Duncan with Dr. Bryan Pain officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Susan married the love of her life, Lynn Gregston, on December 20, 1968. She was a 1970 graduate of Duncan High School. She was the office manager/owner of Country Club Care.
Spending time with her family, going out to eat, or cooking a dinner at home was her passion and she loved spoiling them all. Her specialty was calling her family members and singing them Happy Birthday the moment they answered. Cooking was a pastime that she joyfully shared with her family, church, and Falls Creek. Nana also loved spending time with her grandkids and great granddaughter. Those special times included coloring, reading books, playing games, or visits to the zoo. She and Lynn frequented their second home in Red River, New Mexico as often as they could. Susan was an avid reader. She could always be found with a Coca-Cola and a cup of ice near at hand. She loved her church and serving others any way she could. She loved the color red; it symbolizes the heart and she had a generous one. Susan was simply the best wife, mom, and Nana to her family.
Susan is survived by her husband of nearly 51 years, Lynn; children: Jennifer Determan and husband Jason, Casey Etheridge and husband Cameron, Davy Gregston and wife Renea; grandchildren: Cayley Inmon and husband Colby, Collin Etheridge, Frankie Goodman, Carsyn Etheridge, Grier Determan, Hunter Gregston, Bo Gregston; great granddaughter, Kenzlee Inmon; brothers: Paul McElroy and wife Paula, Monty McElroy and wife Lori; sister, Judy Daughtrey; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nancy McElroy.
