Tommy James Blackburn Jr. was born May 19, 1964, in Tulare, California, to Tommy James Blackburn Sr. and Bobbie Jean Smithson-Blackburn. He passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018, at the age of 54.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, January 4, 2019, at 3:00 P.M. at the Verden First Baptist Church, with Pastor Lawrence Gresham officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
Tommy graduated from Rush Springs High School. He married Rebecca Lynn Hardaway on January 21, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was employed as a tool pusher in the oilfield, where he worked for Bronco and Neighbors his entire career. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He loved spending time with his family and playing practical jokes on them.
He is survived by his wife, Becky; children, Tyler and wife Abby Hardaway of Duncan, Lana and husband Douglas Dakil of Rush Springs, and Haley Ward of Duncan; grandchildren, Wyatt Dakil, Cody Blackburn, one on the way -- Baylor James Dakil, Aurora Blackburn, and Rae’ah Gifford; parents, Tommy Blackburn Sr. and Bobbie Jean Blackburn; brothers, Benjamin Blackburn, Joseph Blackburn, Joshua Blackburn, Daniel and wife Amy Blackburn, and Matthew Blackburn; sisters, Bobbie and husband Steve Bernard, Debbie and husband David Patterson, Dana Blackburn, Rebecca Absher, and Summer Blackburn.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Austin Ward; grandparents, Orvall Blackburn, Juanita Blackburn, Earl Smithson, and Mary Smithson; and brother-in-law, Freddie Absher.
