Virginia Leonie Tinney Hall was born June 18, 1922, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Stephen Douglas and Rita Mary Bernard Tinney. She passed away on Monday, December 17, at the age of 96.
A wake service is scheduled for Friday, December 21, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, December 22, at 10:00 A.M. at the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Peter Jandaczek officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Virginia grew up in Louisiana until she was 9 years old. Her family then moved to Houston, Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston High School. After graduation she was employed as a clerk for the U.S. Army where she met Dr. Lester Arthur Hall, who was in the Dental Corp. They married on April 25, 1943, in Houston. To this union, three children were born – Mark Wayne, Kent Clark, and Janeen.
She loved to garden and was the mastermind of the Clothes Closet at the Assumption Catholic Church. She was employed as the office manager for the dental office of Dr. Hall. She loved babies, especially her own grandchildren. She was a short order cook to all of her grandchildren. She was known as “Miss Ginny” to the neighborhood children.
Virginia is survived by her children, Mark and wife Kathy Hall, Kent and wife Judy Hall, and Janeen Hall; grandchildren, Christopher and wife Ashley Hall, Carrie and husband Newton Tilson, Joe Hall, Mary and husband Todd Murray, Stephanie and husband Chris Radtke, Jennifer and husband Mark Plank, Andrew and wife Molly Hanna, and Lindsay and husband Scott Ragan; 22 great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Swearingen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Lester Hall; parents, Stephen Douglas and Rita Mary Tinney; brothers, Albert Douglas Tinney, Stephen Douglas Tinney Jr., William Leo “Bill” Tinney, and Raymond Joseph Tinney; and sisters, Ella Rita Helfrinck and Doris Frances “Binks” Ford.
Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Hall, Andrew Hanna, Mark Plank, Scott Ragan, Todd Murray, and Chris Radtke.
