Wesley West Obituary

Wesley Wade "Butch" West, 63, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on July 3, 2019, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City after a lengthy illness. Butch was born October 16, 1955, in Ardmore, to Winston Wade and Oddie Beatrice (Posey) West.

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, at 10:00 A.M. at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche. Rev. Randy Southerland, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church West, will officiate the service. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

As an infant, Butch was raised in Healdton until his parents divorced. His mother then married Charles White and they moved to Sulphur. After several years, they moved to Jimtown to be near to Charles' brother, Howard. Butch graduated from Turner High School and then joined the National Guard. After graduation, he went to visit his sister, Connie and husband David Ballard who were living in Woodward. This is where he met his wife, Lori Mills. They divorced and he remarried Sharon West of Fort Worth. He later moved to Duncan to live with Connie and David. He moved to Enid in 2015 to be closer to his children. He has been employed as a security guard and a warehouseman.

Butch served in the US Army for 4 months and then transferred to the Army Reserves for 5 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston Wade West and Oddie Beatrice White; his stepdad, Charles White; grandparents, Horace A. and Edna Posey; aunt and uncle, Jewell and Robert Shelton; and his second wife, Sharon West.

Butch is survived by his daughters: Malissa Dawn West of Enid, Julie Maree and husband David Ketterman of Enid, and Jennifer Wade and husband Kenny Stafford of Beaver; grandchildren: Zachary L. Denton, Emily D. Denton, Toni West, Mary Ketterman, Abygail Ketterman, and Kobe Stafford; great grandson, Jaxton West; sisters; Connie and husband David Ballard of Duncan, Patricia and husband Gary Dean of Mount Vernon, Texas; step-brothers: Russell and wife Dusty West of Duncan, Jay West; and step-sisters: Tina Morrow, Tony A Sala, Kris Daugton.
