Willie Shelby Obituary
Willie Sue Shelby, 88, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019, in Marlow. She was born on September 6, 1930, in Comanche, Oklahoma to Willie Allen and Bonnie Dora Pickett.
Family visitation is scheduled for Monday, January 28, from 5:30-7:30PM at Whitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 29, at 11:00AM in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor Mike McCord. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Willie Sue attended Tucker and Comanche Public Schools. She married John "Bud" William Shelby on May 26, 1946, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Three daughters were born to this marriage - Deborah, Bonnie, and Vickie. They were married over 63 years before his passing in 2009.
Bud and Willie Sue owned a Dairy Queen in Comanche. She worked at the Watkins Department Store in Duncan. They enjoyed traveling. Bud's job as a welder took them to many states for work and Willie Sue went with him, living in a travel trailer. She met many people on these trips. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and cooking. She loved watching all of her grandchildren play in sports.
Willie Sue is survived by her daughters, Deborah Blanton of Duncan, Bonnie and husband Butch Graham of Marlow, and Vickie and husband Richard Byerly of Comanche; grandchildren, Heather and husband Scott Thompson, Malacha and husband Jason McCord, Bliss Graham, Drew and wife Misty Blanton, Ashli and husband Robert Rheaume, Matt and wife Channa Byerly, Hilary Byerly, and Leslie and husband Mathew McCready; great grandchildren, Brennan Thompson, Garrett Thompson, Maegan and T.J. Archer, Preston Nunley, Graham Nunley, Cord Byerly, Keeton Byerly, Kaylin Parker, Kamryn Parker, Noah Mora, Kaleb Cast, Konner Cast, Sam Siebert, Valor Rose Rheaume, Lauren Gail Sorrell, Ashlyn Blanton, Ryder Blanton, Wyatt Blanton, Hadley McCready, Lukas McCready; great great-granddaughter, Hensley Missey; and sisters-in-law, Katherine Anderson and Doris Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Shelby; parents, Willie A. and Bonnie Pickett; and sisters, Johna Mae Dunn, Lucille Whittington, and Blanche Valero.
Serving as their grandmother's pallbearers are Drew Blanton, Matt Byerly, Brennan Thompson, Preston Nunley, Graham Nunley, Kaleb Cast, Konner Cast, and Sam Siebert. Honorary pallbearers are Sammy Dunn, Chad Dunn, Danny Anderson, Billy Don Anderson, Joe Ledford, and Jerry Benson.
