Aaron Helton Obituary

Aaron James Helton was born June 8, 1977, to Garland Revelle Helton and Mary Susanne (Weller) Helton-Willingham in Shattuck, Oklahoma. He passed away unexpectedly on February 19, 2020, in Duncan at the age of 42.

Family will greet friends from 2:00-4:00P.M. on Sunday, February 23, at Whitt Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 24, at 2:00P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Kaiser, Associate Pastor at Freedom Biker Church, officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Stephens County Honor Guard. Inurnment will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery at a later date. Funeral/cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Aaron attended schools in Woodward, Mooreland and graduated in 1996 from Marlow High School. He obtained a technical degree in Diesel Mechanic/Auto Collision. He joined the Oklahoma National Guard for 10 years in 1997 and then serving in the US Army from 2007 until his honorable retirement as a Sergeant in 2012, during which time he served in the Iraq War.    

On March 6, 1997, he married Amy David. To this union, 4 children – Brodie, Declan, Kane and Gunther – were born. Later he became special friends with Jessica Williamson and her daughter, Alyssa.

Aaron was a hunter, enjoying hunting deer, pheasant, quail and dove. He also enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, and painting canvases. He loved taking his family on hiking trips, fishing in the Gulf and on Lake Ouachita with his stepfather, Greg.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Adam Helton; and uncles, Mark Weller and Michael Weller.

Aaron is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary and Greg Willingham; father, Revelle Helton; children: Brodie and Kelly Helton, Declan James Helton, Kane Riley Helton, Gunther Titus Helton; grandchildren: Tyler Helton, Luke Helton, Lyric Helton; grandparents: Joy Helton and Harold and Margaret Weller; brother, Shane and Melissa Helton; sister, Holly and Brandon Morris; nieces: Jena Helton, Allison Morris; and nephews: Jacob Helton, David Morris.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Vincent Zamora, Wayne Hill, Andy Davis, Brandon Morris, Dale Blalock, Sam Harris, and Chris Landram.
