Alice Bearden Obituary

Alice Lorraine Bearden, 86, of Duncan, completed her journey here on Earth and went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2023 in Duncan, Oklahoma. A celebration of life will be held at Whitt Funeral Home at 2:30 pm on Monday, January 30th. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 29th from 2-4 pm at the same location.

Alice was born October 7th, 1936, in Henryetta, Oklahoma to A.E. (Buck) and Docia Burnett. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart who became the love of her life, Dean Bearden, on June 11, 1954.

Alice lived a life full of happiness, joy, and never-ending love. She was always humble and kind and shared her sweet and loving smile with all that surrounded her. Alice was a pastor's wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always beside her husband as they dedicated their lives to the churches across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. All of her life, she was faithful to her God and served her Lord and Savior.

She was mother to Cynthia, Teresa, and David. She always loved unconditionally, supported their goals, and tolerated their tantrums. She attended every school event, every youth group gathering, taught many Sunday School classes, and volunteered every summer at vacation bible school.

Alice was the ultimate Granny. A lifetime of memories was made in the kitchen, year after year, she passed along her special recipes and cooking tips. Summer after summer, time was spent gardening, painting and building forts at Granny and Papa's. Granny lived her life for her family. She made holidays special for all: coloring eggs, trick-or-treating followed by caramel apples and funnel cakes, and stockings filled with goodies every Christmas. She was the master chef for the annual Thanksgiving Deer Camp! She loved "a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck".

Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, brother Tommy Burnett, sister and brother-in-law Barbara Jean and Lee Roy Decker, brother and sister-in-law Donna and Samuel Burnett, and granddaughter Destiny Bearden.

Survivors include daughter Cynthia Edwards and Tommy of Norman, OK, daughter Teresa Gonsoulin and Mark of Blanchard, OK, and son David Bearden and Sharon of Marlow, OK. Grandchildren include Blake Bearden and Caroline of La Verne, CA, Toni Howard of Duncan, OK, Traci Green and Jeremy of Mansfield, TX, Justin Skaggs and Lexi of Oklahoma City, OK, Seth Bearden and Tami of Newcastle, OK, Jodi Robinson of Norman, OK, and Nathan Gonsoulin and Krystal of Oklahoma City, OK. Great grandchildren include Ethan Howard, Jordan Green, Ashton Green, Bailee Howard, Isaiah Robinson, Elle Bearden, Juliette Bearden, Natalie Bearden, and Blake Thomas Bearden. Alice is also survived by her sister-in-law Gay Nell Biggerstaff, as well as countless nieces and nephews, who called her "Granny".

Serving their Granny as pallbearers are Blake, Justin, Seth, Nathan, Ethan and Jeremy. Honorary pallbearers for their great granny are Jordan, Ashton, Bailee, Isaiah, Elle, Juliette, Natalie, and Blake.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation in honor of "Ashton's Army" for her beloved great grandson. (www.pitthopkins.org)
