Anna Janz Obituary

Anna Mae Janz was born November 2, 1924 southeast of Carnegie, Oklahoma to John Henry and Dena (Nightingale) Unruh. She completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, with her family at her side in Duncan. She was 98.

The family will greet visitors on Thursday, May 11, between 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service is planned for Friday, May 12, at 2:00 P.M. at the Greenfield Mennonite Cemetery, southeast of Carnegie, with Ray Ledbetter officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Janz, Christopher Janz, Justin Janz, Bryan Janz, Dylan Janz, and Dana Stanley. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Anna attended Alden schools. She married Cecil Alfred Janz on November 21, 1943 near Carnegie. Their family was complete with the births of their sons - Dewey and Randy. She was a fulltime wife and mother and then grandmother who loved and cared for her family. Once she was old enough, she took care of the household chores like cleaning and cooking to allow her mother to work alongside her father and brothers on the farm. As soon as she would finish, she would sit down at the piano her parents bought her and teach herself to play. She loved to cook, bake and can and go camping and fishing when she could. But her passion was her love for Jesus and playing the piano and singing at her church. She was a wonderful, loving friend with a kind word for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years; son, Randy; and brothers: Herman and wife Edna, Laverne and wife Lonetta, Alvin and wife Ruby, and Melvin. Anna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dewey and Cathy Janz of Duncan; grandchildren: Joshua and Flora Janz of Tulsa, Christopher Janz and Courtney Suson of Duncan, Justin and Jennifer Janz of Hewitt, Texas, Bryan and Kia Janz of Anadarko; great grandchildren: Trey, Valerie, Tayler, Dylan, Eric, Isabella, Victoria, Ethan, Mya, Trevor, Jacobi, Colton; and two great-great granddaughters.
