Anthony Joseph Gonshor was born Monday, July 8, 1929, to Honora (Nona) Mackey and Harry Gonshor in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. He died at Serenity’s Haven Assisted Living, Tomball, Texas, on February 16, 2019.
Joe, as he was known and preferred, helped his father farm when he was younger. He served in the Marine Corps from 1952-1954 and then worked as a uranium miner in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona. He moved to Cyril and opened a barber shop and the Cyril Package Store.
Joe married Mary R. Thompson on May 3, 1986 and lived in Cyril until August 2017.
Joe was preceded in death by his siblings: Mildred, Mary Ann, Jerome, Martin and Robert.
Survivors include his wife and two step-daughters, along with many cousins, nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be at the Carnegie Cemetery, in Carnegie, Oklahoma, on Friday, February 22, at 1 p.m. with Deacon Tom Biles officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home, Duncan.
