Arrie Burgin Obituary
Arrie J. Burgin, Jr., of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. He was 89 years old.
Arrie was born on September 6, 1936, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Arrie and Rossie (Sewell) Burgin. He graduated from Duncan High School with the Class of 1956 and proudly served his country in the Oklahoma National Guard Reserves.
Following his service, Arrie enjoyed a long career working in the machine shop at Halliburton, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
A lifelong supporter of Duncan athletics, Arrie rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Demons, especially during football and basketball seasons. His love of sports extended beyond the stands, as he continued playing basketball at the Simmons Center well into his 70s. He also enjoyed traveling to Arizona, where he loved spending time, and had a special place in his heart for animals, especially cats.
Arrie was preceded in death by his parents, Arrie and Rossie Burgin; his infant twin brother; and his sisters, Frankie Duren and Betty Vinson.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Barry Duren, Brad Duren, Lisa Reames, Angela Peck, and Mitch Vinson.
