Barbara Wilkerson Obituary
Barbara June Wilkerson was born on September 6, 1942 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Thomas Henry and Marjorie Ellen (Williams) Cox. She passed from this life on January 4, 2021 in Duncan at the age of 78.
At Barbara's request, no services are scheduled. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Barbara worked as a beautician for many years after attending LaJean's Beauty School after graduating from Duncan High School. She married Charles "Sonny" Wilkerson in 1993 in Duncan. Barbara was a diehard Democrat. She enjoyed watching anything that was on MSNBC and loved to dance. She loved family time with her grandchildren. She was an awesome daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and "everyone's" MA. She will be greatly missed by everyone that adored her.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Sonny Wilkerson; five children: Denise Simms and husband Kelly of Duncan; Lynda Tugman of Duncan; Michelle Huff of Duncan; Dewayne McCarty of Duncan; Rhonda Thomas and husband Lennie of Duncan; step-daughter, Angela Watson; step-son, Michael Wilkerson; eleven grandchildren: Bridgette Joseph and husband Jonathan; Destiny Crispin and husband Dannial; Terah Chisum; Danielle Chisum; Shaynah Riddles; Brandon Carlton; Austin McCarty and wife Summer; Devon McCarty; Derrick Thomas; Mikal Thomas; Spencer White; Dillon Ross; nine great-grandchildren: Alyssa Suarez and Rylan Joseph; Kaidence Hendricks; Trinton Stovall; Addyson Leptinski; Carson Berry; Emery Lowry; Logan Lynn; Asher Gardner; Leelyn McCarty; brother, Charlie Cox of Loveland, CO; sister, Carolyn Byerly of Hugo; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Thomas Cox Jr., Dewey Cox; two sisters: Beverly Danek; Lisa Brumley; as well as her late husband Benjamin McCarty.
