Barbara "Babs" Louise Allred Obituary

Barbara (Babs) Allred, 75, passed away November 4, 2024 in Oklahoma City.

She was born December 3, 1948 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Raymond and Jo Beaver. Babs grew up in Electra, Texas and graduated from Electra High School. She married Rick Allred on July 8, 1967.

Babs and Rick lived in Odessa, Texas before moving to Gainesville, Texas where they lived for 23 years. In 1992, they moved to Duncan, Oklahoma where she lived until her death.

No matter where she lived, Babs was heavily involved in her church. In Gainesville, she and Rick were part of the bus ministry at Hillcrest Church of Christ for many years. She also taught Sunday School and served as the church secretary. In Duncan, for 32 years they have been members of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ where she taught Bible class, helped with Wednesday night meals, and did computer work at the Compassion Center. She loved the Lord and was a wonderful Christian example to everyone who came in contact with her.

She enjoyed meeting new people, shopping with her friends, cooking for her family, and watching her grandchildren participate in athletics, choir, and band. She loved traveling with Rick and watching the leaves change colors. Her family was what she was most proud of. She loved to brag on anything that they were doing.

Babs is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rick, of Duncan; son Darin Allred of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Deanna and Ed Santos of Duncan; five grandchildren including Jordan Santos and wife Abby of Houston, Texas; Jaylyn Santos of Houston; Jaycee (Santos) Smith and husband Javin of Edmond, Oklahoma; Jaxon Santos of Duncan and Jaret Santos of Duncan; sister Brenda Hutchins of Longview, Texas; special nephew, Michael Mertins; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and precious friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Phil Beaver.

Family visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5-7 pm at the Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan, Oklahoma.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 10 am at the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ in Duncan, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Electra Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
