Betty Burum Obituary
Betty (Lowe) Burum was born September 19, 1931, in Duncan, Oklahoma. Her parents were Ernest Milton Lowe and Zeta Marie (Roper) Lowe. She passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the age of 94.
She graduated from Duncan High School with the class of 1949. She married Murry Burum on November 23, 1948. To this union two sons were born, David Lynn and Darrell Ray. Murry preceded her in death on July 6, 2017, after 69 wonderful years of marriage.
Betty was a stay-at-home mom, but did work part time at JC Penney's retail store. She loved going on cruises and traveling around the country with Murry. Traveling with family and friends was also very special to her. She had many friends that she always welcomed into her home. The bigger the crowd the better!
Betty had many interests, the first was going to church, cooking for her family, and playing games and working puzzles with her grandchildren and the greats. She was also an avid reader and loved working crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Jack Lowe; and brother-in-law, Don Burum. Sister-in-law Barbara Burum
Betty is survived by her children: David Lynn Burum and wife Carolyn, Darrell Ray Burum and wife Mary; grandchildren: Devron Burum , Chad Burum (Sarah), Tori Schmalz (Aaron), Brandon Burum (Christi), Vance Burum (Tonya); great-grandchildren: Isaak Burum, Eli Burum, Evelyn Grace Schmalz, Allee Burum, Sidney Burum, Krystian Burum, Blaise Burum; brother, Jerry Lowe and wife Carolyn; and sisters-in-law: Carolyn Dixon.
A graveside service is planned for 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 20, in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating with assistance from Toby Baldwin and Curtis Wilson. Serving as pallbearers are Blaise Burum, Krystian Burum, Isaak Burum, Eli Burum, Keith Browdy, and John Cooksey. Arrangements are being handled by Whitt Funeral Home.
