Betty Mae Sparks Obituary

Betty Mae (Lane) Sparks was born July 11, 1941 in Alma, Oklahoma, to Leon and Frances (Oxford) Lane. She went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28, 2025, in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 84.

Viewing is available Thursday, July 31 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service is planned for 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 1, at Marlow Cemetery with Pastor "Snip" Richard Allen officiating.

Betty graduated from Duncan High School in 1959. On December 10, 1965, she married the love of her life, Gary Lynn Sparks and shared a wonderful life together for over 58 years before he passed away in November of 2024.

In her early years, Betty dedicated herself wholeheartedly to being a loving homemaker, finding great joy in creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. She had a true talent for sewing, lovingly crafting clothes and even designing her daughters' prom dresses with care and creativity. A devoted fan of soap operas and Hallmark stories, she cherished quiet time with a good book or her Bible. She loved spending time in her flower garden and Christmas was her favorite time of year. Betty was also known for her cooking; her homemade chicken and dumplings were a cherished family favorite. Later in life, she took a job as a bookkeeper at BancFirst; working for 15 years before retiring. Above all, she was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and her grandkids were the highlight of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gary; son, Michael Lynn Sparks; daughter-in-law, Amanda Sparks; granddaughter, Hailie Sparks; brothers: Chester Lane, Joe Lane, Bill Lane, Cotton Lane; and sister, Edna Marie Jinks.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandy Bruce (Shawn); grandchildren: Lauren Brooke Kincaid, Heather Nicole Eakins (Brody), Terri Nicole Bruce; great-grandchildren: Alexia Cheyenne Kincaid, Dawson Michael Eakins; and great-great-grandchild, Ryleigh Hagler. Other survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Kathy Sparks; many nieces and nephews; and very special friend, Ella Head.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Betty's name to the Stephens County Humane Society.
