Billy Brown Obituary
Billy J. Brown, age 92, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, in Duncan, Oklahoma. He was born in Walters, Oklahoma, on March 26, 1932, to Archie and Hazel (Robb) Brown. He graduated from Temple High School in 1951 and began his career as an automotive technician.
He married Edna Juanita (Babe) Brown on June 7, 1952. When his country called, he proudly served during the Korean War near Seattle, Washington. Babe rode the train for 3 days to join him. Upon his honorable discharge, they returned to Oklahoma in 1954 with 6-month-old Karen and later made their home in Duncan in 1956. Patrick was joyfully welcomed to the family in 1964.
Bill worked for the Ford dealerships in Temple, Waurika and Duncan until he opened his own business, Bill and Ray's Service Center, in 1972. He took pride in his work and charged fairly, so he had many loyal customers. He officially retired in 2004 but continued to work by appointment until health problems slowed him down.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved reading his Bible and westerns. He was a great story teller and loved sharing stories about cars, family, the Army, hunting, and fishing. He also shared his faith with anyone who would listen. Bill also helped Babe with her wood crafts, quilting, and basket weaving. He devoted himself to caring for her and often said that God let him live so he could be there for her. He remained by her side until she passed away in October 2023.
Bill was a member of New Hope West Baptist Church at the time of his death. He previously attended Parkview Baptist Church, where he was one of the first three deacons to be ordained, and Immanuel Baptist Church where he actively served as a deacon. He enjoyed singing at the nursing homes and being a door greeter until his health began to fail.
Bill is survived by his daughter Karen Lowe and husband Tom, Durant, OK; son, Patrick Brown, Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Pearl Baughman, Newcastle, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son-in-law Gary Lollock, and sisters Pauline Thompson and Ethel Burgan.
