Billy Eugene Domstead, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed into his Savior’s hands on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was 69.
Viewing will be on June 30-July 1 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 2, at 10:00 A.M. at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Kevin McKinley officiating. Services are under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
Bill was born on June 21, 1951, in Cushing to Mary M. Wadley and Billy “RE” Domstead. He attended schools in Marlow and graduated in 1969. He was a drummer in the high school band and played in a band at EOSC at Wilburton, where he attended for two years. He joined the US Navy in 1971 and served as a Machinist Mate on the USS New destroyer, based in Norfolk, Virginia. After completing his service, he moved back to Duncan to be near his family. He owned several businesses, including Bill’s Heat & Air and the Reflex Gym. He worked for over 30 years in the oilfield in Velma for ARCO Oil and Gas, Henry Petroleum, and Chaparral Energy. He retired in 2012.
He was married to Valerie Jean Hill for 46 years. He was blessed with two children, Michael A. Domstead and Becky R. Rynas. He was active and volunteered for various organizations during his children’s school years. He served as cub master for Marlow Pack 409. He was the treasurer and operated the concession for several seasons for the Marlow Girls softball organization. He played the anthem, “Thunderstruck”, at the Marlow High School football games, and he DJ’d many high school dances sponsored by the Marlow Youth Council.
Bill is survived by his son, Michael Domstead and wife Sarah of England; daughter, Becky Rynas and her children, Claire, Evan and Owen, of Oro Valley, Arizona; nephew, Rob Wagner and wife Keri and children Isaac and Hadley of Broken Arrow; two nieces, Jennifer Borski and Stephanie Koonce, both of Duncan; and numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Brenda June Ward, and her son, Jefferson Wesley Wagner.
Bill attended church most of his life, the last one being the 1st United Methodist Church of Marlow.
