Billy Eugene Strawn, Sr.

Bill Strawn, 91, of Comanche, OK, passed away Wednesday, March 26, in Duncan surrounded by his family.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 28, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral home. A funeral service is planned for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 29, at Western Heights Baptist Church with Jim Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery.

Bill was born April 8, 1933, in Ringling, OK to W.E. "Tom" and Alma Strawn. He married Joan Woody on June 20, 1953. They were married for 65 years and had two children - Kathy and Billy Jr.

Bill worked in the oil field for more than 45 years. He retired as a Gauger for Koch Oil Company after about 35 years. After retirement, he helped Joan with her ceramic shop. He kept a small herd of cattle that were his pets. He and Joan loved to travel. They had driven through 49 states and Canada. Most of all, Bill loved his family. His granddaughters and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his children: Kathy and Pagon Ballard and Peggy Strawn; grandchildren: Sarah and Robert Vazquez, Diane and Howard Boss, and Morgan and Matt McGinley; his great-grandchildren: Aubrey Boss, Emily Boss, and Robby Vazquez; sister, Florence Strawn; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; son, Billy Strawn Jr.; brothers: J.T. Strawn and Edward Strawn; sisters: Irene Stewart and Alene Nelson; niece, Vicki Davis; and nephews: Jack Mauldin and Bob Mauldin.
