Billy "Bill" Joe Gene Hancock was born September 19, 1940 in Comanche, Oklahoma to Henry Benjamin and Nora Ann (Williams) Hancock. He passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the age of 81.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, between 5:30-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Services are planned for Thursday, May 12, at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Chapel Pentecostal Church, 2695 Cherokee Road, with Pastor Eddie Jackson officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Hancock, Jason Hancock, Scotty Hancock, Adam Harper, Rylan Hancock, Ricky Myers, Nicholas Hancock, Justin Martin, Cason Wilkinson, Jaxon Wilkinson, and Raynan Hancock. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery near Comanche. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Bill had worked at numerous jobs including Halliburton, Cimarron Energy, and the Lowery Ranch. As a young man, he loved to drag race. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going to his cabin in eastern Oklahoma. He loved going to church. Family was important to him and he enjoyed visiting with them and seeing his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Hancock; grandson, Dillon Bond; brother, Claude Hancock; and sisters: Lucille (Goldie) Brines, Geneva Taylor, Ruth Anderson, and Lavinia Hancock.
Bill is survived by Norma Gamblin Hancock; children: James Hancock and wife Dorothy of Loco, Krista Harper and husband Shane of Comanche, Susan McMahan and husband Joe of Lawton, Carrie Wilkinson and husband Josh of Duncan, Billy Joe Hancock Jr. and wife Kecia of Meridian; step-daughter: Jennifer Smiddy and husband Jeromy of Duncan; daughter-in-law: Debbie Hancock; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Betty Hendricks of Comanche.
