"Bob" Robert Carter Obituary
Robert "Bob" Gene Carter was born August 31, 1925, in Mounds, Oklahoma to James Michael and Ethel (Blakely) Carter. He passed away on December 6, 2020, at the age of 95.
Visitation is planned for Tuesday, December 8, from 5:30-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 10, at 2:00 P.M. at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Leonard Keele, minister of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Bob graduated from Fox High School and attended Draughon's Business School. His father worked in the oilfield so they moved quite often. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp as a side gunner on a B-24 plane during World War II. He also served during the Korean War as a drill sergeant. Bob then was employed by Halliburton in the Data Processing Department for 30 years. He retired in 1982. He married Maurine Stewart in December of 1950 in Waurika. They had one son, Jim. He loved to play golf and read. Bob was a big OU fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, Lloyd Carter.
Bob is survived by his son, Jim and wife Nancy Carter of Duncan; grandchildren: Casey and husband Kelly Hertzler of Duncan; Russell Carter of Stillwater; great grandchildren: Tyler Hertzler and Marie Carter; niece, Joyce Porter of Duncan; and nephew, Mike Carter of Stillwater.
