Bonnie Lane Obituary
Bonnie Florice Lane, born April 18, 1938, to Joel "Cotton" and Beulah (Hefner) Rodgers, went to her heavenly home on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the age of 87. Her life was a beautiful reflection of faith, family, hard work, and a deep love for the people around her.
A funeral service is planned for 1:30 P.M., Monday, January 5, at New Hope Baptist Church West with Rev. Randy Southerland and John Mark officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. There is no viewing or visitation planned.
Bonnie graduated from Anadarko High School and began teaching before continuing her education at Oklahoma Baptist University, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. It was during this time in Shawnee that she met the love of her life, Tom Lane. They were married on September 3, 1960, and then the couple moved to Wichita Falls until Tom completed his degree in English and Mass Communications. Upon his graduation, the couple moved to Duncan and Bonnie began teaching 5th grade at Plato Elementary. She opened Lane's Furniture here in Duncan where she dedicated her talents to helping families create warm and welcoming homes. After 20 years, Bonnie and Tom moved to Granbury, Texas in 2019. She opened a store there and continued working for 25 more years until she retired and the couple moved back to Duncan.
Though she loved to work, Bonnie found equal joy in play. She delighted in games, laughter, and time spent with family and friends. Her presence made gatherings brighter, and her gentle spirit made everyone feel welcome.
Bonnie was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church West, a place she loved deeply and where her faith continued to grow throughout her life.
Survivors include her son, Kerry Lane; brothers: Jim Rodgers, Jerry Rodgers, Allen Rodgers, David Rodgers, Philip Rodgers; and sister, Linda Jones-Parson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Tom Lane; parents, "Cotton" and Beulah Rodgers; and brothers: Joel R. Rodgers, Bobby Rodgers, and John Rodgers.
