Boyd Herman Isom, Apache, was born April 29, 1936 in Allen, Nebraska to Bennie and Anna (Rodebough) Isom. He passed away September 7, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 83. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Boyd was born and raised in Allen, Nebraska and graduated from Allen High School. He was a farmer in Allen for many years. He married Laveta Smallwood on May 4, 1957 in Lawton, OK. They lived in Allen, NE before coming back to Oklahoma. Together, they ran several cafes, including Ralph’s Resort, Fletcher Café and Ozark Trail. They operated the Farmer’s Roost and Village Inn in Apache before he retired.
Boyd is survived by his 2 sons and their wives, Bill and Rita Isom of Apache and Alan and Robin Isom of Elgin; one daughter, Janet Lea Henderson of Apache; 12 grandchildren: Josh Isom and wife Diana; Kandice Williams and husband Lance; Toby Isom and wife Haley; Crystal Edwards and husband Eric; Charity Helms and husband Justin; Jospehine Burgess and husband Jeremy; Sharon Isom; Anna Isom; Obie Clements and wife Michelle; Dusty Clements and wife Melissa; Shane Henderson and Nicole Henderson; 16 great-grandchildren: Eli Isom; Gentry Isom; Andie Edwards; Caden Isom; Jacob Isom; Emerson Edwards; Anikka Helms; Curtis Helms; Alexis Isom; Alan Burgess; Henry Lonewolf; Angela Lonewolf; Denise Lonewolf; Charles Douthit; Dale Douthit; Ethan Douthit; Michael Clements; Elisabeth Clements and Joshua Clements; brother-in-law and his wife, Charles and Theresa Smallwood of Concord, CA; one sister-in-law, Grace Myers of Medicine Park.
He is preceded in death by his wife, LaVeta Doris Smallwood Isom; father, Bennie Jay Isom; mother, Anna Radebough Isom; brothers, Darrell Isom, Zane Isom and Gene Isom; sister, Beverly Isom; father-in-law, Charlie Smallwood; mother-in-law, Ludie Austin Smallwood; brothers-in-law, Floyd Smallwood, Clyde Smallwood, Willis Smallwood and Charles E. Myers (whom was also his best friend); sister-in-law, Betty Smallwood.
