Brandon Ray Johnson was called home by his heavenly father on Saturday, November 21, 2020, in Lawton at the age of 39.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, July 16, at 1:30 P.M. at New Hope Baptist Church West with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Inurnment will follow in Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Brandon was born on July 16, 1981, in Oklahoma City to Jeff and Carla (Clift) Johnson. Brandon graduated from Duncan High School in 2000 and attended the University of Oklahoma majoring in journalism. In Brandon's high school and college years, he received many honors and awards in journalism and photography. During his years at DHS he enjoyed working with JD Taylor at DTV-10 and working with Janice Gay as the editor of the Demon Pitchfork. He also enjoyed his time working at the Duncan Banner as a photographer and columnist. Brandon loved being a part of the annual MDA Telethon with Curt Cooper, Todd Frye, and Wylie Balthrop. Brandon later worked for the Duncan Police Department and for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop G as a communications officer.
He enjoyed watching movies, OU football, and singing. He also loved his many trips to Colorado and spending time in the mountains. Brandon loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also loved all his many friends both in and out of law enforcement.
He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Carla Johnson of Duncan; sister, Christi Karcher and husband Jeff of Cranberry Township, PA; nephew, Kannon Karcher; niece, Brooklyn Karcher; grandmother, Pat Johnson of Hollister, MO; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and longtime friends Larry LeSage and Curt Cooper.
Brandon was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jerry Johnson, Lory and Charleene Clift. Aunt and uncle: Rick and Deb Johnson.
