Burma "June" Pierce Obituary

Burma "June" Pierce was born in Byers, Texas on November 29, 1925, to Thomas and Angeline (Davis) Simmons. She passed away on Friday, October 13, in Duncan at the age of 97.

A family visitation is planned for Wednesday, October 18, at Whitt Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A funeral service is planned for 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 19, at New Hope Baptist West with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Ryan Thomas, Dustyn Carroll, Rudy Redding, Trey Wells, Paden Carroll, and Jordan McGuire.

After graduating from Byers High School in 1942, June attended business school in Wichita Falls, Texas. She worked in accounting for several businesses, including a motor supply company, Sears, and Halliburton. June did not like to be lazy. She would do laundry and iron for other people. She knew her neighbors and made sure they were all taken care of. June enjoyed traveling and visited Hawaii, Branson, and took several ski trips to Colorado. She enjoyed sewing and loved animals. Most of all, she loved her family.

June is survived by her children: Wayne Carroll, Ronnie Pierce, Mike Pierce; grandchildren: Holly Wells, Ryan Thomas, Dustyn Carroll, Rudy Redding, Lori Gambill, Michael Pierce, Amber Pierce; great-grandchildren: Alisha Thompson, Jordan McGuire, Morgan Broom, Brandon Thomas, Kylee Corkin, Mitchell Wells, Kimora Gonzales, Paxtyn Carroll, Paden Carroll; great-great-grandchildren: Tommie Corkin, Everly Corkin, Roman Corkin, Sage Thompson, Forrest Thompson, Clare Gambill, and Brooklyn Emma Gambill.

She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Pierce; son, Tommy Carrol; daughter, Debbie Redding; her parents, sisters: Betty and Edith; and brothers, Fuston Simmons and Olis Simmons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Hope Baptist West.
