Carma Lita Nelson was born on April 13, 1934 to Roy and Thelma (Wilson) Lambert in Redland, Oklahoma. She passed away in Marlow on Wednesday, August 16, at the age of 89.
Family visitation is planned for Sunday, August 20, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Monday, August 21, at 10:00 A.M. at the Eastside Church of Christ in Duncan with Ron Stough and Jeff McElroy officiating. Interment will follow in the Marlow Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff McElroy, Jay McElroy, Jesse Nelson, Dustin McBrayer, Brian Branstetter, and Tommy Anthony. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Ellis and Chubby Anderson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Carma graduated from Duncan High School. She married Bill Nelson on September 12, 1952. The births of their children, Paula and Billy Don, completed their family. Carma worked for Universal Fidelity Insurance Company for 27 years before her retirement. When she was younger, Carma was active in her church and was a very good singer. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Cookies and brownies were her specialty. She loved to back cookies for everyone in town. Carma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Lambert, Carma is survived by her husband Bill; children: Paula McElroy and husband Paul and Billy Don Nelson and wife Cheryl all of Duncan; grandchildren: Jay Paul McElroy, Jeff Corey McElroy, Julie Nelson, Jesse Nelson, Lana Seargent; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Wanda Fuller of Edmond.
