Charley Winborn Jenkins was born in Duncan on January 20, 1935, to Cecil and Ruby (Pogue) Jenkins. He finished his earthly journey and went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2023, at the age of 88.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 5, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Clay Jenkins, Cole Brown, Chance Jenkins, Tanner Jenkins, Kyle Sanders, Trey Jackson, and Michael Bruce. Honorary pallbearers are Curtis Wilson, Bill High, Leo Stiewert, and James Woolsey. There is no formal visitation planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Charley graduated from Velma High School in 1953. He married Norma Moore on February 24, 1956. Together they had four children: Flint, Diana, Lance, and Gina. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the Red River, and taking family vacations. He loved bowling in his younger days. Charley served on the Velma school board and worked in the kitchen at New Hope Baptist Church where he was an active member. Charley loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a Godly man.
He is survived by his wife Norma of the home; children: Flint and wife Janada Jenkins, Diana and husband Ronnie Orr, Lance and wife Barbara Jenkins, Gina and husband Daryl Brown; grandchildren: Corri Polzien, Clayton Jenkins, April Shay Orr, Cole Brown, Jason Orr, Ashlee Sanders, Destiny Jackson, Chance Jenkins, Tanner Jenkins, Kaitlyn Jenkins, Jeremy Brown, Melanie Pelayo, Kaytlin Brown; 27 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 4 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; and brother, Jackie Jenkins.
Charley was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Carrie Bruce; and sister LaVonne Jenkins Reubell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church benevolence fund.
