Cheryl Sue Moon

Cheryl Sue Moon, of Comanche, Oklahoma, was born on May 19, 1948 in Tipton, Oklahoma to Otto and Margie Sue (Harrison) Everson. She completed her earthly journey on Friday, April 25, 2025, with her family at her side. She was 76.

Visitation is planned for 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, April 28, at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 29, at the First Baptist Church Comanche with Pastor Mark Hall officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Steve Varner, Robert Taylor, Taylor Varner, Bruce Dale, Denny Harrison, and Colby Dougherty. Honorary pallbearers are Kaiden Taylor, Murray Nobles, Lynn Cobb and Stan Higgins. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton at 2 p.m.

Cheryl graduated from Tipton High School in 1966. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Cameron University in Lawton. She then started a career that she loved doing, teaching children. That career spanned 27 years with the majority of her time teaching at Comanche Public Schools. Her passion for teaching and love of children was truly her legacy. Cheryl taught with such love and compassion and had such a profound impact on her students' lives.

On November 26, 1982 Cheryl married the love of her life, Bud David Moon. Their families blended together with their daughters - Kristin, Shannon and Melissa.

She was a twirler through her high school and college years. She spoke often about the wonderful friendships and fun memories she made during that time. Cheryl was a huge Elvis fan! She saw Elvis twice in her lifetime and her love of his music continued until her passing. Her absolute favorite thing was being a grandmother.

She was a long-time member of the First United Baptist Church of Comanche. Cheryl's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was known for her kindness, compassion, unwavering spirit and beautiful smile.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her husband, Bud; children: Kristin Norman, Shannon Brooke and husband Steve Varner, Melissa and husband Robert Taylor; grandchildren: Hope Brooklyn Bradford, Taylor Varner, Raylena Taylor, Allyson and husband Rusty Hargrove; and great grandchildren: Kaiden Taylor, Ava McCartney, Easton McCartney, Liam Taylor, Owen Hargrove, Adlee Mazza, Sadie Hargrove. She is also survived by her uncle, Denny Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Earlene King, Charlene Rowland, and Dona Pierce.
