Christine Chennault

Christine "Chris" Chennault, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Duncan, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. She was born on December 17, 1948, in Lima, Ohio, to Urban and Helen (Klemen) Droll.

Chris was raised in Ohio and graduated from Byzantine Catholic High School in 1967. On July 5, 1968, she married Pat W. Chennault, and made their home in Oklahoma, where they raised their two sons, Russell and Jonathan. Over the years, Chris also lived in Dallas, Texas, and St. Petersburg, Florida-places that fed her creativity and her love of warm weather.

Chris was a vibrant, imaginative woman with a natural eye for architecture and decorating. She delighted in hosting gatherings with friends in her younger years, filling her home with laughter and connection. Throughout her life she held many jobs, but her favorite by far was owning her own gift shop in Florida, where her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit truly shined.

She loved to travel, exploring places such as Ecuador, Pensacola Beach, and Cape Cod, and she was always happiest near the beach, soaking in the Florida sunshine. More recently her summers were spent in Marblehead, Ohio, where she cherished summers on Lake Erie surrounded by family, sunshine, and the water she loved. Above all, Chris was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was a free spirit-strong, independent, and unafraid to live life on her own terms.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Garrett Chennault; brother, Kenneth Droll; and brother-in-law, Bob Butler.

Survivors include her sons: Jonathan Chennault and wife Melani of Broussard, LA, Russell Chennault of Duncan; grandchildren: Brian Chennault, Meagan Chennault, Lexa Valentine; brothers: Roger Droll and wife Billie, Joe Droll and wife Barbara; sisters: Brenda Butler and Jennifer Stergios and husband Jack; cousin, Sherry McGrew; and niece, Pam Droll.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Chris' memory to the Stephens County Humane Society.
