Clayton Allred Obituary

Clayton Allred passed away on May 6, 2022 in his home outside of Velma, OK surrounded by his family and friends.

Clayton Allred was born in rural Stephens County, OK on December 17, 1933 to Oscar and Pearl Allred. He was the third of five children. Clayton grew up alongside Wildhorse Creek just outside of the town of Arthur, OK. Clayton attended school through the fifth grade in a single room schoolhouse at Arthur. He began working at Ketchum Ranch for the Ketchum family in 1950. He enjoyed his time working as a Cowboy and often told stories throughout his life of his experiences at Ketchum Ranch. In 1959, Clayton went to work for Stephens County District 2. After 35 years, Clayton retired as Foreman from Stephens County in 1993 at the age of 59. During this time, he served on the Velma Volunteer fire department from 1962 to 1972 and was one of the founding members. He was a member of Countryside Freewill Baptist Church.

Clayton Allred and Modena Cowan met as teenagers, and they married on September 5, 1953 in Lawton, OK. They enjoyed over 68 years of marriage together. Clayton and Modena welcomed their son, David Clay Allred, into the world on March 14, 1967. In 1972, Clayton began work building a new house northwest of Velma. Clayton moved his family into their new home in August of 1972, where he lived until his passing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clayton was a strong, caring, principled man of admiration. He will be missed by all those who had the pleasure to know him.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Modena Allred; his son, David Allred and wife Dawn; his grandsons: Derek Allred and wife Jaimee and Dillon Allred and wife Tiffany; and step grandchildren: Hillary Tivis, Jake McGuire and wife Lacy, and Olivia McGuire; great-grandchildren: Kaiden Allred, Kimber Allred, Clayton Allred, Caroline Allred, and Lyla McGuire; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous loved ones.
