Connie Ballard Obituary

Connie Sue Ballard (West), 72, was called into Heaven on April 20, 2026, after long fight with cancer.

The family will receive visitors at Whitt Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. A funeral service is planned for 1:30 P.M., Friday, April 24, in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Her grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Connie was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on July 21, 1953, to Beatrice and Winston West. The family moved to Jim Town where she lived throughout her childhood with her two siblings. After graduating from Turner High School, she spent a year attending college in Chickasha while living with her Aunt Jewel in Duncan. During this time, she met the love of her life, David Ballard, and the two were married on May 10, 1973. The couple built their home and family together in Duncan, where Connie devoted herself to raising their three children. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family, as she lovingly cared for many children over the years, treating each one as if they were her own.

Family was truly the center of Connie's life. She and David shared 53 years of unwavering partnership, friendship, and devotion. Connie cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren-playing games, watching movies, shopping, and cheering them on at their sporting events. She also treasured time with her nieces and nephews, especially the memories of taking them to Kiddieland when they were young. A gifted and enthusiastic crafter, Connie could spend hours scrapbooking, creating handmade treasures, and joyfully sharing her creations with others. Her crafts were more than hobbies-they were heartfelt gifts that reflected her generous spirit. Connie loved deeply, gave freely, and remained devoted to her family until the very end.

She is survived by her husband, David Ballard of Duncan; her three kids: Kevin Ballard of Lawton, Christy Ballard of Duncan, and Cathy Forester of Norman; five grandkids: Isiah Beard of Norman, Ethan Beard and Riley Boles of Norman, Aidan Beard of Norman, Delilah Ballard of Duncan, and Lukas Ballard of Duncan. Other survivors include sister, Patty Dean of Mount Pleasant, Texas; sister-in-law, Sue Mercer of Duncan; and brothers-in-law: Ray Ballard and Royce Clark both of Duncan. She also had numerous nieces and nephews and her first great grandbaby was on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winston West and Beatrice White; aunt, Jewel Shelton; brother, Butch West; and sisters-in-law: Laura Miller and Juanita Clark.

Connie wants you to remember that she never gave up. She was a fighter to the end and she loved everyone.
