Craig "CT" Tanner Obituary

I have been informed that our good friend, Craig Tanner (CT), has gone home to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. CT was born in Detroit, MI in 1950. His parents, Theo and Ullaine Tanner, both preceded him in death.

According to his wishes, there are no services pending. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted with Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

CT moved with his parents to Lawton, Oklahoma on Halloween day, 1954. He went to school there and graduated from Lawton High School in 1968. After graduation, CT became an electrician. He received his Journeyman's Electrician License on March 14, 1972, from JHCI. CT worked as a Journeyman Inside Wireman Electrician from 1969 through 1985. He was a proud member of the Local Union 590, IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). CT wore many hats in life, he was a bouncer and personal body guard for Smokey at Smokey's Cow Palace Inc. in Minnesota for years. He was also known as the Commissioner of Stymeville (IYKYK) from 1989 to 2015, when he had to medically retire to Westbrook Nursing Home in Walters, Oklahoma. He wanted to give a special thanks to the Activities Director, Patty Briant, whom he adored. When they closed that center, he went to Meridian Nursing Home in Comanche, OK, where he spent his last days. He wanted to mention and thank Sophia and Ryan for being a friend and making him feel human.

Craig had many hobbies that he loved to do, which included working on cars and drag racing. He also loved a good bar fight, but most of all, he loved to cook. CT was well known for his famous spaghetti sauce. Many tried to get his recipe but failed, it died with him.

CT loved a good liverwurst sandwich date with his good friend, Denise, who would come fully equipped and prepared to serve.

During CT's life, he had a handful of special friends who he wanted to mention. His #1 was his faithful pet, Scruffy, then fellow Journeyman, Billy Butcher, who traveled with him for years working together, Bob Drennon, Barry Walker, Carolyn Burch, and me, Denise Kerr Decatur. He loved us all in his own way.

Craig rededicated his life to our Lord and Savior. He was saved and baptized on December 4, 2024. We will see our friend again in Heaven. Oh, what a glorious day that will be.

Luke 23:43 (NKJV) "And Jesus said unto him, 'Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise.'"
