Cynthia Peters Obituary

Cynthia Diane Peters was born to Dale and Dean McClennen on September 3, 1947, and departed this life on June 7, 2022, at the age of 74 in her home in Duncan, surrounded by her loved ones.

Cynthia is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dan Peters; her son, Dale Peters and his wife Ronda of Waurika; her son, Bryan Peters and his wife Brandy of Duncan; her sister Catherine Hladick and her husband Clarence of Piedmont; her brother-in-law, Bob Bruner and wife Suzy of Duncan; her V-A sisters; her beloved healthcare workers, Melody Ray and Cathy Lane; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Cynthia was Nana to Casey Halligan and Amber Balch of Edmond, Hannah Lillard of Duncan, Riley Peters and wife Shannon of Duncan, Abigail Peters of Norman, Grace Peters of Duncan, Sage and Kristopher Anton of Duncan, Cooper and Kyler Halligan of Edmond, and Oliver Lillard of Duncan.

Cynthia was preceded in death by both her parents and sister, Candiace Bruner.

Cynthia attended Lee Elementary, Duncan Jr. High, and graduated from Velma-Alma High School in 1965. She was employed by and retired from Duncan Public Schools. She was a member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls from age 13 to 20. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Duncan until her health declined. She enjoyed fixing Sunday lunch for her family, traveling, decorating her house for the holidays, and spending time with family.

The family would like to thank Elara Caring Hospice for providing care and comfort in her final year of life. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Cynthia’s celebration of life will be held at Whitt Funeral Home on Saturday, June 11, at 2:30 pm, with Steve Gillespie officiating. Interment will be at Duncan Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Christian Church Youth Fund or the Duncan Public Schools Foundation.
