D L Carter Sr. was born October 16, 1938, in Social Hill, Arkansas to S L and Daisy (Thomas) Carter. He finished his earthly journey at his home in Duncan, Oklahoma on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the age of 86.

A memorial service is planned for 1:30 P.M., Saturday, March 8, at Bethel Church with Pastor Ron Meador officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

D L graduated from Texico High School in New Mexico and then enlisted in the Army. On August 10, 1955, he married Molly Mae Barnes in Texarkana, Arkansas. D L loved to travel which he got to do as a truck driver. He enjoyed his work; however, he also loved to spend time with his wife Molly who preceded him in death on January 7, 2024.

He is survived by his children: Clyde Carter and wife Pam of Yukon, OK and Susan Lemons of Duncan, OK; grandchildren: Nicolle Carter, Molly Minkema, Ashley Steadman, Shawn Carter, Meagan Carter-Burkes; great-grandchildren: Isabella Carter, Dakota Carter, Tyler Buerker, Everett Minkema, Theodore Minkema, Rylee Steadman, Mackenzie Steadman, Claire Carter, Brody Carter, and Stetson Carter. D L is also survived by his brothers, William Carter and Clyde T. Carter.

D L was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Molly; sons: William Dale Carter, D L Carter Jr.; grandson, Jessy Ray Lemons; and brothers: Clarence Carter and Jerry Carter.
