Danny Whitney Obituary

Danny Max Whitney passed away in his home on April 26, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

Danny was born April 13, 1955 in Duncan, OK to Wanda and Earl Whitney. Danny was an athlete excelling in basketball, football and track at Comanche High School where he met Diana. They married in March of 1974 and spent 47 wonderful years together. Diana was the love of his life. Danny started his career at Vi-Roi Drilling and stayed through 1996. He eventually branched off and started his own oil and gas company, Whitco Operating, with Diana and Joyce McClennen, who was like his second mother, working by his side. After 12 years of building Whitco into a highly successful business, he sold it in 2008 and retired early to enjoy time with his family. In retirement, Danny enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, watching his grandsons excel in the same sports he did, and spending time driving his vintage cars. He spent much of his time out at 3 Turkeys, his ranch that was named after his 3 grandsons who meant the world to him. Danny never met a stranger and could make anyone laugh. As kind-hearted and selfless as he was, he was equally as wise and could give unparalleled advice in life, business or anything in between. No matter what was going on in is life, he was always trying to find ways to help others and give back to the community.

Danny is survived by his wife, Diana Whitney; daughter, Mandi Ellis; son-in-law, Heath Ellis; and three grandsons: Myles, Dillon and Landon. He is also survived by two brothers: Phil and his wife Cretia, Vic and Suzanne; and several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his mother and father, Wanda and Earl, and his brother, Larry.
