David Lynn Cole was born June 13, 1951 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Rev. C. L. and Bertha Mildred (Ross) Cole. He completed his earthly journey on Monday, October 25, 2021, at his home in Duncan at the age of 70.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 6, at 10:00 AM at Whitt Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Bowen officiating under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center of Duncan.
David graduated from Duncan High School with the Class of 1970. He proudly served in the Army National Guards and US Air National Guards from 1970 to 1976 receiving an honorable discharge. He joined the Houston, Texas Pipefitters Local 211 and became a journeyman pipefitter. Eventually, he relocated back home to Oklahoma and worked at Tosco Refinery. While working there he attended International Correspondence School, graduating in 1981. He then started his own construction business where he built homes, fences, barns, and did backhoe and dirt work. He returned to pipefitting and joined Local 344 in Oklahoma City, retiring as a journeyman pipefitter in June 2016.
He raised Quarter horses and loved going to the racetrack and watching horses compete. He often spent his mornings drinking coffee and meeting up with his friends. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and enjoyed attending all of their many activities.
David is survived by his children: Angel Newberry and husband Treble of Marlow, Jeramie Patterson and wife Amy of Ratliff City, Chassity Bowen and husband Richie of Comanche, Jeremy Cole and wife Amanda of Shawnee; grandchildren: Jayden Coffman and husband Trey of Marlow, Lindley Newberry of Marlow, Chandler Bowen of Comanche, Corbin Bowen of Comanche, Leona Cole of Shawnee, Benji Cole of Shawnee; sister, Elaine Bartel of Ava, Missouri; sister-in-law, Peggy Cole of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stanley Cole; and nephew, Todd Hunt.
